Fitchburg pastor credits firefighters, sprinkler system for saving church | #ESC_LLC #FireFighters #SprinklerSaves #Fire | After a fire at the Emanuel Lutheran Church Monday afternoon, the pastor of the house of worship said the building is standing today thanks to its sprinkler systems and the quick response of the Fire Department ( Daniel Monahan | Sentinel & Enterprise).
“We are totally blessed because of the work Fitchburg’s finest,” the Rev. Daniel Spigelmyer Jr., the church’s pastor, said on Tuesday.
Spigelmyer said he first learned of a fire at the church around 3 p.m., and arrived at the scene about five minutes later. He saw heavy smoke in the building when he arrived and learned soon after the fire that an electrical issue in the pipe organ sparked a fire.
