Neighbor rescues child from Colerain Township house fire | #ESC_LLC #Kitchen #Fire #Hero | Stephen Johnston was just getting home from work and he was able to help. “That’s when I seen a little boy’s head sticking out. I don’t think anybody else had seen him because it was dark out already and I just bolted,” Johnston said. “In other words, Mr. Johnston put the life of this young boy above that of his own by doing what he did to rescue him,” says John Larkin, ESC Senior Partner. Stephen Johnston  placed  his own life in danger to rescue that of a young boy in a house fire.

Deputy US marshal killed while serving Pennsylvania warrant | #ESC_LLC#police#killed#warrant#PA | A U.S. Marshals Service deputy was shot and killed Thursday while serving a warrant inside a Harrisburg home, and police killed the suspect when he fired at other officers.
Christopher David Hill, 45, was part of a team serving an arrest warrant on a woman when gunfire erupted, authorities said. Hill suffered a fatal wound, and another team member, York City Police Officer Kyle Pitts, was injured by the gunfire.

Woman rescued from flames by passerby in west Columbus | #ESC_LLC#fire#rescue#hero | Before firefighters arrived, Antwan Cotton said he was driving by when he smelled smoke. He stopped and banged on doors to find anyone that needs helped. In the apartment above where firefighters said the flames began, Karen Watts said she opened her front door to escape, but saw thick smoke and flames. Watts, who already had a broken arm, said she felt trapped.

Sheriff’s deputy, medics help save a life after runner collapses | #ESC_LLC#deputy#marathon#runner#hero | COLUMBUS, Ohio – A runner at the Columbus Marathon was hospitalized Sunday after collapsing near Broad Street and High Street. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Tanya White saw the runner collapse near her and rushed to help.
The sheriff’s office said she noticed the runner was not breathing and felt the runner’s heart had stopped.

Ohio Historical Marker to be placed at site of fire that took a Toledo firefighter’s life | #ESC_LLC#Toledo#shrine#firefighter |TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department along with ProMedica will honor a Toledo firefighter on Friday who lost his life in the line of duty.
An Ohio Historical Marker will be placed in front of the ProMedica Headquarters, the site of the King-Quale Grain Elevator fire that took the life of Captain James Fraser more than 100 years ago.
Captain Fraser was part of the crew fighting the fire back on January 3, 1894. A fire broke out at the grain elevator, and wind from the Maumee River drove the flames toward the center of Toledo’s business district.

I felt like I had no control over anything.” But through counseling and prayer, she found strength to write a book to honor her daughter.
